Parking Spaces – 650 of them – will discourage transit ridership

The Town Council favors Transit Oriented Development in some areas of town.  In general, Council members are particularly keen to promote greater densities along transit corridors.  MLK Jr.  carries a large amount of students to and from campus during normal times. A new faster bus system is under development.  Read about the North-south BRT here.

It’s possible that greater densities in the Aura development will produce riders for a Bus running between Southern Village to the Eubanks Parking Lot.  However creating 670 additional parking spaces will greatly reduce the possibility of increased transit use.  Therefore it’s correct to say this is not a TOD project.
